By combining the craftsmanship of Jelajah Rattan’s artisans with ITB’s cutting-edge design expertise, this initiative aims to create rattan & wood chairs that fuse Indonesia's cultural heritage with sustainability and contemporary aesthetics. Through immersive workshops, design ideation sessions, and hands-on prototyping, the partnership highlights Indonesian material’s versatility as a sustainable material while pushing the boundaries of functional, eco-friendly furniture design. This collaboration not only celebrates local craftsmanship but also inspires a new generation of designers to embrace Indonesia’s rich natural and cultural resources.

Reka Lounge Chair:

The chair is inspired by the concept of "Reka," which means the process of searching and development. This chair has been developed through several processes over the years, gradually evolving into its mature and final form. It has received design awards and has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions, gathering valuable input from the audience. This feedback has contributed to the chair's organic development, allowing it to find its optimal shape and form. This is why I have named it "Reka," to symbolize its journey of discovery and evolution.

Najwa Wingback Chair:
Inspired by Secret Beauty of a Woman

The "Najwa" rattan chair is a design concept that draws inspiration from the hidden and secretive beauty of women. The chair's form celebrates the graceful and elegant curves often associated with the beauty of a woman's figure. Its backrest mimics the gentle lines of feminine grace, while intricate rattan detailing resembles the delicate features and patterns found in traditional feminine attire and jewelry. The silhouette of the chair exudes strength and poise while maintaining a welcoming and comfortable appearance, symbolizing the idea of limitless enjoyment of beauty. The name "Najwa," meaning "hidden secret," perfectly embodies the concept behind this unique and alluring chair.

Mekar Lounge Chair:

The "Mekar" lounge chair is a captivating design concept that takes inspiration from the alluring beauty of a blossoming flower. The chair's form embodies the delicacy and elegance often associated with the enchanting allure of a blossoming bloom. Its gentle, sweeping lines and curves evoke the graceful unfolding of petals, while the intricate details resembling the texture of a flower's surface reflect the fine intricacies found in nature. The silhouette of the chair exudes an inviting and comforting presence, symbolizing the idea of embracing and savoring the captivating beauty of a blossoming bloom. The name "Mekar," meaning "blossom," perfectly encapsulates the essence of this unique and inviting lounge chair design.

The "Tobbo" chaise lounge chair is a design concept that pays homage to the traditional Sumatra people's seat, known for its cultural significance as a place for connection and storytelling within the community. This concept seeks to encapsulate the communal spirit and values that the Tobbo represents in Sumatra culture. The chaise lounge's form and structure draw inspiration from the authentic design of the Tobbo, incorporating elements that foster comfort and encourage relaxation, while also serving as a symbolic link to tradition and community. The Tobbo Chaise Lounge aims to create a space for quiet reflection, connection, and storytelling, celebrating the cultural heritage and bringing people together in a modern setting.
